Our sustainable journey 

Our commitment is to generate sustainable value for all our stakeholders, integrating environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues into business strategies and processes. The company’s purpose is a statement that guides our 32,000 people from 120 nationalities in supporting clients in the energy transition and the journey to Net Zero, driving environmental sustainability with increasingly digital means, technologies and processes.

Since “Engineering for a sustainable future” is our purpose, everything we do is guided by a clear vision for tomorrow, combining technological prowess and leading management capabilities to create  a tangible and positive impact on the future.

Thanks to our engineering expertise and technologies, in addition to effectively contribute to decarbonising traditional energy activities, we are also engaged in the sustainable infrastructure and renewables industries.

We therefore are committed to reduce both our emissions and those of our customers by providing innovative design, engineering and technological solutions. In addition, we are already working to decarbonise the entirety of our supply chain through the active involvement of our suppliers in this process.

One company, One Saipem

One Saipem serves as the guiding principle for ensuring that Saipem's sustainable engineering and infrastructure projects worldwide are delivered through an integrated services platform focusing on clients' needs, safety at work, environmental protection and integration with local communities.

Saipem revamped its operational and governance model to fully implement this approach, transitioning from a divisional logic to a more integrated one. This change strengthened ties between business units and enhanced internal coordination. One Saipem contributed to strengthening the company’s culture and inspiring values related to people’s wellbeing and safety.

The sustainability plan describes how we intend to work to achieve our sustainable business strategy and create long-term shared value.

Sustainability for Saipem has increasingly become a strategic priority guiding skills and development, and on which the corporate purpose "Engineering for a sustainable future” is based.  Our four-year Plan is structured around 3 macro-pillars, each of which is connected to relevant UN Sustainable Development Goals and collectively comprising 11 action areas:

• Climate change mitigation and environmental protection (Path to Net Zero, Biodiversity & Pollution Prevention);
• People Centrality (Health & Safety, Valuing People, Diversity & Inclusion, Human & Labour Rights)
• Value Creation (Responsible Supply Chain, Business Ethics, Local Impact, Innovation, Cybersecurity).

The Sustainability Plan integrates the company’s business strategy with clearly defined actions, objectives and measurable targets, aiming at translating the medium to long-term vision into objectives and actions, based on the priorities of stakeholders and the Company's Strategic Plan.
