Press note: Saipem showcased significant technological innovations at Offshore Technology Conference in Houston

San Donato Milanese (Milan), May 7, 2015 –  Saipem’s stand at this year’s Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston, Texas showcased some sector-leading technologies and initiatives, in particular for the execution of deepwater projects.

Amongst the most significant products lines:
Innovator 2.0: Saipem’s drive for technology
Saipem’s latest product line within its Offshore Business unit is called Innovator 2.0.

This represents a significant step change in Saipem’s subsea robotics offering, and will see the company build world-class and more efficient remote offshore vehicles (ROV)  in-house,  helping it to meet current and future operational requirements.

Innovator 2.0 will lead to the creation of a state-of-the-art fleet of WROVs that are optimized for heavy lifting, with an extremely powerful auxiliary circuit and fully configurable valve packs, thus guaranteeing the best results in the most challenging operating conditions.

Innovator 2.0 is developed by Saipem’s specialized subsea company Sonsub, and commercialized under the Sonsub brand.

Saipem’s new projects in offshore robotics will con consolidate its position as a global leader in research, development and delivery of subsea technologies, in a market that is constantly evolving towards increasingly complex projects.

The company’s position in the subsea segment is further strengthened by a new standalone JV Xodus Subsea established in October 2014 with Xodus Group and Chiyoda Corporation. Xodus Subsea expends Saipem’s competences in engineering and consultancy services focusing mainly on the early phase of the projects, such as front end engineering, conceptual studies, and basic design.

Normand Maximus: unique asset for ultra-deepwater installation
Saipem will also profile its newly-leased Normand Maximus vessel. This is the result of an innovative design philosophy aimed at combining the installation of subsea umbilicals raisers and flowlines (SURF) with field development activities in ultra-deepwater.

From the second half of 2016, Saipem will have a cutting edge advantage in the execution of projects in the most challenging environments worldwide, with a particular focus on East and West Africa, Brazil, Australia, the North Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico.

The Normand Maximus will be a fantastic addition to Saipem’s already impressive fleet.
