Training excellence for the drilling sector
The Drilling Training Centre, part of the Saipem Academy’s training programme, is a highly specialised training hub dedicated to the development of technical and behavioural skills in the drilling sector.
From simulation to reality
At the heart of the Drilling Training Centre is a full-scale simulator designed to faithfully reproduce the real-life operational environment of a drilling rig. It is an immersive environment in which dimensions, perceptions and control systems reproduce the conditions of field operations, allowing for a realistic and safe learning experience.
The cyber chairs utilise the same human-machine interfaces and control systems as those installed on the rigs, whilst an advanced mathematical and fluid dynamics model enables simulation of the geological conditions of the wells and the dynamics of drilling operations. The courses are led by trainers with extensive experience in the sector, who are trained to share the skills they have developed in the field.

Experience at the centre of training
Immersive experiential training enables participants to practise realistic operational scenarios in a controlled environment, developing both technical and behavioural skills across the various stages of drilling operations, with increasing levels of complexity.
IWCF Certified Training
Saipem’s Drilling Training Centre offers certified IWCF Drilling Well Control programmes for professionals working in critical operational roles, both offshore and onshore. The training follows the International Well Control Forum’s syllabus, combining theoretical knowledge with practical simulation activities and leading to internationally recognised certifications.
