The project
Discovered in March 2009, the Jangkrik Gas Field is located about 70 km from the coast of Borneo, Indonesia, at a water depth ranging from 250 to 500m. In 2014, Eni Indonesia awarded the EPCI contract for engineering, procurement, construction, installation, commissioning, and assistance for the start-up of a barge shaped FPU performing full offshore processes and exporting treated gas onshore. The project consists of 10 deep-water subsea wells connected to the new floating production unit (FPU) Jangkrik. Once processed onboard the FPU, the gas flows via a 79 km pipeline to the onshore receiving facility, then through the East Kalimantan Transportation System to the Bontang gas liquefaction plant. The gas supplies the local domestic market, the Indonesian LNG market, and LNG exports.
An extraordinary project
Realized by a joint venture company (STC-JO) made of Saipem, Tripatra E&C, Chiyoda, and Hyundai Heavy Industries, the EPCI-1 project consists of a newly built barge floating production unit with a treatment capacity of 450 million cubic feet per day of gas and condensates.
