Saipem and Jan De Nul signed a Letter of Intent for Rovuma LNG offshore project in Mozambique

The final award to Saipem-Jan De Nul consortium is subject to the Final Investment Decision (FID), and government and regulatory approvals expected within 2026

Milan (Italy), September 10, 2026 – Saipem, in consortium with Jan De Nul, has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with ExxonMobil Moçambique Limitada, on behalf of the Mozambique Rovuma Venture S.p.A (MRV) representing the Area 4 partners (ENH, CNPC, ENI, KOGAS and XRG) for the Rovuma LNG Phase 1 development in Mozambique.

The Letter of Intent concerns limited preliminary engineering and procurement and other technical services, aimed at advancing project definition and execution planning, for an initial value of approximately 11 million euro. The final award of the Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation (EPCI) contract to the consortium is subject to positive FID by the Area 4 partners and receipt of the necessary government and regulatory approvals, expected in 2026.

The project is related to the development of the upstream facilities which will deliver gas from the offshore Area 4 resources to the onshore Rovuma LNG liquefaction plant from 18 subsea wells through a network of subsea pipelines and manifolds.

The Saipem–Jan De Nul consortium will contribute to the project with its extensive experience in the EPCI of subsea facilities, including gas export pipelines, umbilicals, infield flowlines and related infrastructures in shallow and deepwater environments.

This Letter of Intent represents a significant step forward in the development of the Rovuma LNG project and further strengthens Saipem's position in the execution of complex offshore energy developments, while reinforcing the company’s long-standing relationship with ExxonMobil.
