Saipem awarded new E&C onshore contract in Chile worth $560 million

San Donato Milanese (Milan), September 3, 2015 - Saipem, through its subsidiary Petrex SA Chilean Branch, has been awarded a new engineering and construction contract by the Corporación Nacional del Cobre de Chile (CODELCO), one of the world’s leading producers of copper, for the development of a water pipeline and all related facilities, including pumping stations. 

The pipeline, which will have a total estimated length of approximately 160 km and reach a height of 3,000 metres above sea level, will be used to improve extraction processes at the Radomiro Tomic copper mine, located 1,670 km from Santiago, Chile.  


The value of the project will be approximately $560 million and will be executed in two phases, the first one will be engineering, and once the project is approved and the environmental permits will be obtained, the second one of procurement and construction will be executed.
