Saipem selected for Profertil’s expansion project

Saipem has been awarded an engineering services contract by Profertil S.A. to support the evaluation of a planned expansion of its fertilizer production complex in Argentina, a strategic initiative aimed at increasing local urea production capacity and supporting the country's agricultural value chain.

The project involves the development of a new urea plant with a production capacity of 4,450 tonnes per day, contributing to the growing demand for fertilizers in Argentina and the wider regional market. These activities will be executed by Saipem in partnership with Techint Engineering & Construction, combining the complementary expertise of the two companies. The initiative will integrate Topsoe’s ammonia production technology, Saipem's proprietary urea production technology, and Thyssenkrupp Uhde's granulation technology.

Saipem's scope includes technical services, Licensors' Design Packages, and a structured proposal for the subsequent project development phases. The contract is expected to last 11 months.
