Biography

Born in Genoa on 8 February 1964, he graduated from the Milan Politecnico with a degree in Industrial Technology Engineering, specialising in organisational economics. 

In 1990, he joined Snamprogetti as Project Engineer in Projects Management to manage technical projects. He was initially based in India to construct a fertiliser plant in the Rajasthan region and later in Qatar to construct a polyethylene plant.  On his return from Qatar in 1996, he dealt with commercial offers , including an offer for an ethylene plant for Adnoc-Borealis.  In 1997, he was appointed as Project Manager of a Gas Processing Plant built in Malaysia for Petronas. 

He left Snamprogetti in 1999 to join Technip France as Project Manager in charge of the FEED for offshore upstream development for Agip Gas in Libya and was then appointed Proposal Manager to supervise the preparation of commercial offers, including FPSO offers in Brazil for Petrobras and offshore upstream development projects in Iran for Shell. 

In 2001, he left Technip and joined Edison's Hydrocarbon Division as Project Director of the Edison-British Gas (ELNG) JV to develop Egyptian assets and construct the Rosetta LNG plant in Egypt. 

Following Edison's divestment of its Egyptian assets, he left the company in 2004 and joined Eni, where he worked for 5 years in Egypt as General Project Manager in Petrobel in charge of Eni's Egyptian upstream developments and subsequently of the FEED for Train 2 for the Damietta LNG plant. From 2009 to 2011, he held the position of Project Director of the Kashagan Offshore Experimental Programme in Kazakhstan. 

From 2011 to 2014, he took up the post of VP LNG in Nigeria and was responsible for coordinating Eni's LNG initiatives in Africa. These included the pre-sanctioning of Brass LNG in Nigeria, during which he was Director on the NLNG Board. 

From 2014 to 2019, he was based in the UK and became VP LNG Operation of the Mozambique Programme. He contributed to the sanctioning and implementation of the Coral FLNG project and prepared the operational phase, provided support to establish project financing and support for technical and commercial negotiations with the LNG buyer and agreements with partners and stakeholder management. 

In 2019, he joined Saipem as Project Director of the Tangguh LNG project for BP. That same year, he became responsible for the operations in the APAC area of Saipem's Onshore E&C division, and not only supervised the Tangguh LNG project, but also the construction of a regasification plant and a refinery in Thailand. 

In January 2022, he became Director of Operations until his recent appointment as Chief Operating Officer of the Energy Carriers business line.
