The project
The Nong Fab LNG is a regasification terminal with a capacity of 7.5 MMTPA (million tons per year.) It includes the reception, storage, regasification, and sale of liquefied natural gas located in the Mueang Rayong district in southeastern Thailand. It stands out as one of the country’s key infrastructures for ensuring low carbon energy production for years to come. The project boasts a 5.5 km LNG reception jetty, the longest in the world for this type of service. Other significant features include two LNG storage tanks with a capacity of 250 m3 each, a seawater recycling system that runs through under water tunnels, and an LNG cold energy utilization and recovery system used to run HVAC system in administrative buildings that helps reducing plant’s carbon footprint.
The site is enhanced by an administrative building with a modern, futuristic design. The building—open to the public and fully equipped with sustainable solar electricity generation systems and wind turbines— is made up of decidedly innovative elements such as a climatic dome, a water-repellent system, and a rooftop garden designed to live in perfect symbiosis with the environment in which the plant operates.
