Saipem inaugurates “La Petite Maison Rose”: a center for highly vulnerable children in Senegal
“La Petite Maison Rose”, a center dedicated to the care and protection of minors who have been abandoned or children of women who have suffered violence, has been officially opened in Senegal thanks to the support of Saipem. Located in Guédiawaye, in the Dakar region – one of the most densely populated areas in the country - the new facility will welcome approximately 200 children each year, offering educational support, healthcare, and reintegration pathways.
The project is carried out in partnership with LVIA – International Association of Lay Volunteers, an organization dedicated to solidarity and international cooperation, working to overcome poverty and promote fair and sustainable development, active in Senegal since 1973.
The facility will be managed by Unies Vers’elle, a local non-profit organization that already operates the adjacent center, Maison Rose – one of the few facilities in the area providing comprehensive assistance to young women in danger or survivors of sexual violence and abuse. With the opening of this new space, integrated and continuous support will also be offered to the children of these women in need. Unies Vers’elle works in close collaboration with local authorities, relevant Ministries, the UNICEF Office in Senegal, and the National Directorates for Child Protection, Family, Social Affairs, and Health.
The official inauguration of La Petit Maison Rose took place on July 15 during an institutional ceremony attended – among others – the Saipem Country Manager, the Prefect, local mayors, ministerial representatives, the representant of the beneficiary and the National Directorate for Child Protection, as well as numerous members of the local community.
The initiative is part of Saipem’s broader commitment to creating value and fostering social, economic, and environmental development in the countries where it operates, as well as promoting human dignity. In 2024, Saipem implemented 65 initiatives across 17 countries, investing around €1.6 million.
