Biography

In 1990, he was employed by Agip SpA as Reservoir Geologist in the Reservoir Department to study reservoirs in Africa and Italy. In 1998, he began his international career by moving to Aberdeen, where he held the post of Assistant Manager of Operated Assets for Agip UK and gained operational experience in complex environments. On his return to Italy in 2002, he became Reservoir and Well Area Manager in the Val D'Agri project. 

In 2003, he moved to Egypt as IEOC Development and Operations Manager and held increasingly complex managerial roles, first as General Manager and Managing Director for Petrobel and then as General Manager of IEOC. 

In 2009, he returned to Italy to become Vice President for the Management Coordination of Russia and northern Europe. In 2010, he moved to Stavanger to cover the dual role of Managing Director of Eni Norge and Management Coordination Manager of Russia and northern Europe. 

In 2012, he returned to the Operations Department in Italy initially as Senior Vice President of Petroleum Engineering, Production and Maintenance and then as Senior Vice President of Drilling and Completion and Deputy Operations. In October 2015, he was appointed Executive Vice President of Reservoir & Development Projects.  

September 2018 saw his appointment as Chief Development, Operations & Technology Officer of Eni and since 1 July 2019, he has held the post of Chief Upstream Officer of Eni.   

He gained a first-class honours degree in Geology at the University of Milan and was awarded the MEDEA Master's degree in Energy and Environmental Economics at Scuola Mattei. He is the author of several papers on reservoirs and drilling presented at international conferences.

Born in Florence on 23 June 1963, since 1 July 2020 he has held the post of General Manager for Natural Resources at Eni.
