Saipem is included in the internationally accredited Dow Jones Sustainability World and Europe Indexes (DJSI), placing among the top companies of the “Energy Equipment Services” sector. Saipem’s inclusion in the index confirms the attention the company constantly dedicates to sustainable development and to the responsible management of its business. Since 1999, the Dow Jones Sustainability Index has been ranking the companies, selected by the Robeco SAM rating agency, who have distinguished themselves for excellent sustainability performance based on economic, ethical, governance, social and environmental criteria.

The FTSE4Good is an equity index series designed to measure the performance of companies demonstrating strong Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices. As an FTSE4Good constituent, we have met stringent ESG criteria, improving our performance over the years. Our good practices in Environmental resource use, Labour standards, Health and Safety, Human Rights, Corporate Governance, Risk Management and Anti-Corruption were recognised and valued.

FTSE Russell confirms that Saipem has been independently assessed according to the FTSE4Good criteria, and has satisfied the requirements to become a constituent of the FTSE4Good Index Series. Created by the global index provider FTSE Russell, the FTSE4Good Index Series is designed to measure the performance of companies demonstrating strong Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices. The FTSE4Good indices are used by a wide variety of market participants to create and assess responsible investment funds and other products.

Saipem has participated in the Carbon Disclosure Project since 2009, increasing its transparency in climate change strategy and disclosing its efforts to increase energy efficiency. It is worth mentioning that Saipem’s score is higher compared to the Industry Group Average and the overall CDP Programme Average. The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) is an international non-profit organisation that collects data and information on GHG emissions and company strategies and actions to reduce emissions and face climate change risks. GHG emissions reduction is one of the most important environmental aspects for society as also confirmed by the COP21 agreement signed by 195 countries in Paris in December 2015.

STOXX® Global ESG Leaders indices

Saipem is a component of the STOXX® Global ESG Leaders indices. The STOXX® Global ESG Leaders index offers a representation of the leading global companies in terms of environmental, social and governance criteria, based on ESG indicators provided by Sustainalytics. The index consists of three ESG sub-indices: the STOXX Global ESG Environmental Leaders, the STOXX Global ESG Social Leaders and the STOXX Global ESG Governance Leaders indices.

IPLOCA is the International Pipe Line & Offshore Contractors Association. Among the awards the association promotes to share and promote ideas in the industry, the IPLOCA Environmental Award recognises pipeline construction’s exemplary achievements towards reducing environmental impact. In 2016 Saipem was named runner-up for the design and construction of the Chinipas Slope pipeline crossing in Mexico: based on a geomechanical study, Saipem decided to use a raise borer to avoid a huge visual impact, earth moving, and a steep slope installation.
