Leadership in Safety

Saipem’s Top Management has recognized the need for a major and significant change in culture and attitudes to safety and that to achieve this, the company needs leaders that are first and foremost leaders in safety. For that reason in 2007, the Top Management tasked the Saipem’s Corporate HSE Department to begin the development of the Leadership in Safety (LiS) workshop, an innovative and highly interactive training program with the far reaching aim of creating a strong safety culture within Saipem.

In order to achieve a cultural change, the main objective of the workshop is to begin the transformational process of Saipem leaders into fully matured safety leaders. An innovative key learning tool created exclusively for the workshop is a Leadership in Safety film, titled ‘The Safer, The Better’. This film provides interactivity throughout the workshop, showing scenes at strategic points to prompt group discussion, exercises and simulations. All the elements and tools for this one and a half day workshop have been designed exclusively for Saipem, with both its vast diversity of operating environments and its multicultural workforce in mind.
The LiS programme was officially launched on July 26, 2007 in Milan, with a special workshop requested by Saipem CEO, Mr. Tali, with his senior management team. During this event the top management formulated the Saipem Safety Vision which describes the desired state which all Saipem employees must focus on and the Company commitment for a safer future.
