1956/57 Laying of the first offshore pipeline in Africa, at Abu Rudeis, Egypt by Snam Montaggi, then Saipem.
1961 First Agip platform installed in Gela, Sicily.
1966 Huelva pipelines laying, Spain - “the true Saipem start in pipelaying operations”.
1971-1973 Worldwide presence: Now Rouz and Kharg island pipelines, Iran.
1973 North Sea first pipeline - BP Forties Field.
1975 onward Agip’s Adriatic Sea platforms and sealines installation activity expansion.
1978 Algeria-Italy Transmed project: 3 pipelines, deepwater crossings of Messina and Sicily Channels. World record for deepwater pipelaying operations.
1981 Dong Doras pipeline project: first North Sea full length trunkline.
1987 Polo Nordeste Brazil: first Saipem heavy lifting platform installation.
1990 Britoil Bruce/Agip UK Tiffany platforms, among the first heavy liftings in the North Sea performed by Saipem 7000.
1991 Zeepipe pipeline trunkline in Norwegian North Sea, performed by Saipem and Brown & Root equally owned new Company, EMC.

1997-2000 U.S.A. Diana Hoover project: heavy lifts and Saipem’s first in J-lay pipeline operations.
1997 Jamnagar EPCI marine loading terminal, India.
1998 Saipem’s opening in Canada with EPCI Mobil Sable platform project, in 3 phases.
1998 Firenze FPSO, Aquila field, Italy: first built and operated Saipem FPSO unit.
2001 Blue Stream project: deepwater gas transmission system for delivery of gas from Southern Russia to Turkey, across the Black Sea, performed in J-lay mode.
2001-2005 West Africa Kizomba A and B projects, Angola: first deepwater SURF developments performed by Saipem with the aim of the new FDS high technology vessel.
2002 Libyan majestic projects performed by Saipem as EPCI main contractor: Bahr Essalam pipelines and Sabratha platform.
2002 Installation of deepwater large diameter pipeline between Libya and Sicily, namely LGTS Greenstream pipeline.
2003 West Africa Saipem’s leadership in EPCI management of pipelines and structures projects, as Mobil‘s Yoho huge development.
2003 Russia: Sakhalin EPCI pipelines and installation of platform, with biggest topside ever installed by float-over method.
2003 Total Angola deepwater Rosa development confirms Saipem among the most skilled worldwide contractors specialised in EPCI Subsea Umbilicals, Riser, Flowlines (SURF) systems.
2004 North Sea UK sector: the dual strength of Saipem 7000 and Castoro Sei performed the major Buzzard project, comprehensive of both sealines and platforms scope of work, as the latest huge field developments in the area.
Also, Saipem completed the BBL interconnector trunkline connecting Europe mainland to UK.
2005 Qatar’s Dolphin pipeline EPCI project, the longest offshore pipeline ever laid in the Persian Gulf.
2007-2008 Egyptian deepwater SURF project for the construction of EPCI subsea facilities and control system in West Delta Deep Marine concession for Burullus Gas Company.
2009 Completion in Nigeria of the Total Akpo Project, a deepwater (1,350 m) field development demanding many important innovations due to the technical content of the work.
